Getting Started
Okay. So the plan was to start last Monday but as my kids and I spent the entire week sick, that kind of put a damper on things. Today is the day though. We are house sitting for Adam and Amber so it may be a tough week, but there is no time like the present. We are down to Week 48.

Time For Change
So, I've got to give a shout out to Jon Farrington who is determined that we are going to enter a Triathalon in 50 weeks. For some crazy reason, I agreed. So I am going to use this blog in part to keep a journal of my progress as I make my "Quest for Fitness" I Definately have a long way to go and honesty is absolutely the best policy so I am opening up myself to anyone who reads this Blog. As this is Thursday, I am going to use the rest of this week to get my bearings and set up a grueling routine that will kick my but and shrink my waist. Here's today's Stats:
Weight: 317.8
Excersise: 5 Laps through Loma Vista
Meals-
Breakfast: About 4 Chocolate Chip Cookies with Milk
Snack: Bowl of Honey-nut Cherios with Milk
Lunch: 2 Chocolate Chip Squares
Snack: 1 Chocolate Chip Cookie
Dinner: 7 oz. Pot Roast with Mash Potatoes and Gravy, Crystal Light, water
Just FYI I didn't get my motivational email until after Dinner so i wager that my Meals may look a little better tomorrow.

BYU NO. 17
This morning I was waiting for my wife in front of a grocery store when the USA Today catches my eye. There on the front page was the coaches top 10 preseason college football poll. I had to buy it. Being a Cougar fan I flipped to the back page to see if BYU had cracked the top 25. I scanned the rankings from 20 to 25 and I was disappointed to see that after two seasons finishing 11-2, the hadn't even cracked the top 25. I started scanning all the other rankings and received a shock to see No. 17 BYU. I had my cell phone with me so I checked ESPN.com to make sure that it wasn't a typo. Sure enough, there they were. What was more amazing to me was to see that they are anticipated to crack the BCS. Being a skeptic, I thought that even if they go undefeated, their schedule is too weak with Utah State University and UNI (formerly known as "whatever midwest community college") they would have to completely blow out UCLA and Washington to have a prayer. But then, a world famous phrase hit my ears. REMEMBER APPALACIAN STATE!! I decided not to take any team for granted and this proved to be wise. Last year, UNI went 12-0 in the regular season earning them the No. 1 ranking in the BCS subdivision. Although they lost in the playoffs, Cougar fan be warned! They are returning a strong team and are wanting to make another run at a National Championship. Admittedly, I haven't paid much attention to this game but now, I am forced to watch at least the first half. Another interesting note, as Scott pointed out to me this afternoon, Fresno State is breathing down BYU's neck at No. 25. If both teams run the table, things could get very interesting in the BCS arena. August 30 is going to be a remarkable day. The University of Utah is taking on Michigan, which cougar fans, is very good for us if they win that game. On that same day Jordan High will be playing in the Kirk Heirbstreit Varsity Football Series. They will face off with Masillon High School of Ohio at the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. No news as to whether or not it will be televised. More information to come.
